Tahini Banana Bread

1 big or 2 small loaves of bread


  • 3 bananas (mashed)
  • 1 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons tahini - sesame paste- (well stirred)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 lemon zest
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1 orange juiced
  • 6 oz. white whole wheat flour
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds


Preheat the oven to 350F. Coat one big loaf pan or 2 small tart pans, I like using the tart pans, because the bread is thinner and it comes out crispier.

Combine banana, Greek yogurt, tahini, butter, vanilla and eggs in a large bowl; beat with electric mixer until combined.

Add brown sugar, orange juice, orange and lemon zest, and beat more until combined.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl; add it to the banana mixture. Beat everything together until combined.

Pour the mixture in your pans and sprinkle the white and black sesame on top.

Bake at 350F for 55 minutes or until it is cooked well.


The first time I saw this recipe it had chocolate and more sugar. I don’t like things too sweet, but if you crave chocolate you should add 2oz. bittersweet baking chocolate to the recipe, finely chopped.
