Le Vallon Restaurant | Geneva, Switzerland

 

Before moving to New York, I spent a good portion of my life in Geneva. Sure Switzerland is all about watches, chocolates, cheese and banks, but this little country also has great chefs and great restaurants. Don’t forget all those bankers and high profile clients need to eat well in fabulous restaurants. 

One of my favorite places to eat in Geneva is Le Vallon. I go year after year and the quality is always amazing. I am never disappointed when I eat there because the food is reliable and the service is first rate. Now Le Vallon isn’t where you will find all the hip people dining; The crowd is not young and hip, but is composed of people who’ve been coming for years who appreciate the good food and intimate atmosphere. In summer they have a little garden where you can dine.

The menu, like the clientele, doesn’t change a lot with the exception of seasonal specials. I have my favorite dishes, of course. In winter I must have the boneless chicken seared with harissa and served with seasonal vegetables or risotto; in summer I highly recommend their steak tartar. They season it perfectly. I must say all their dishes are beautiful to look at and provide a feast of tastes for your palate.

Le Vallon, is my favorite lunch spot to meet my mother. Over the years it has become our tradition to enjoy a meal there anytime I visit.
